Oasis are known as the original indie pop band even if they are these days classed as being brit pop. Their videos are very plain and simple with just a few unexplained elements to them. Its also in places narrative and follows the picture follows the lyrics at points.
By the time pulp released this video in the late 1990's the indie pop scene had taken off. More money was available for the creation of videos. They still used the simplistic technique however, more effects were used and more shots were created to make the video more of a masterpiece.
At the beginning of the noughties the arctic monkeys became the new indie pop band to beat. They became an iconic indie band and their videos have displayed various different techniques from the previous videos within the genre. This video has a story and in places fits the narrative. The lighting is also very dark, fitting with the mood of the song.
The latest indie pop video that has relevance i feel is this Biffy Clyro one. It in places follows the narrative but also in places makes no sense. The pictures occasionally follow the lyrics and the lighting fits the mood of the genre. The scenery and the way the camera is used also interlink with the lyrics which is a main feature of the indie pop genre that i am going to try and use in my own music video.
